You guys that can drive your Vettes in the winter really impress me. I run 295 rear summer tires on mine and it just won't go in the snow. I got caught in a little 1" snow storm coming home from work once. It's 20 miles from work to my house and I'll bet I put 200 miles on the odometer. When I tried (attempted) to go around a corner the effect was about as funny as an elephant on roller skates. I would just let off the brake at a stop light and there was no forward motion. The car just started going sideways. Pitiful, just pitiful. I cover mine in the winter and do drive when it's 40 degrees or so just to keep it limbered up and all the heater controls working. My hat's off to you guys that can drive these pigs in the snow.

I've got a 1995 Impala with 305 summer rubber and it's just as bad.

There's a moral of the story in there somewhere......

And this is why mine which has seen snow, ice, rain, runs on all performance all season tires, save the summer months. Temps in Fall and spring can swing to the 20s in the mornings to the 70s. Neither winter or summer rubber is optimal in either of those conditions by any stretch. Winter can go from 50s to the teens as well. So for like 8 months of the year mine's shod in all seasons.

Foothills of NC, makes for rather interesting temp swings.

Yea, you just kind of get used to it. I'm on the eastern half of Washington state - the "dry side". I've personally seen it as low as 17 below zero and as high as 108. It's not an option to not drive. You DO have to watch the anti-freeze though!

Definitely.
Mine gets a full flush 2 times a year. Once when it starts getting cold (upping the mix) and once when it warms (getting more water in it).

Which is a good thing in of itself since it's a daily driver.

mix should be 50/50 regardless of temp. Flushing twice a year? Why?

Anti-freeze is also anti-boil as well as anti-corrosion!! 50/50 is the way to go! That'll protect you to -34*F. Where are you driving? Do you drive 100,000 miles per year? (But it is your money, after all, so you can do it your way!)

Winter I run more antifreeze than 50 percent. Summer is 50 or around there.

I do it the same reason I change my oil two times a year, even though I don't drive 7500 miles a year..usually.

I can keep a better eye on the condition of the fluids that way, and I know it's fresh.
Also when I got the car, it was pretty obvious that it hadn't been flushed in a long time. Like probably ten years long time.
Before I swapped the radiator, for a Dewitts I swear I was still getting crap out of it, the third time I flushed it. I gave up on the stocker, after that.
