I don't really see anything super shocking in those listings. I feel like the C4's with 100k+ for $4K and $5K are probably about right (Especially the one with 200k+!)
The C5's are starting to bottom out and the ones you have listed are early years with 100K+ on the odometer. One actually has a salvage title which explains the price there.
If these weren't in LA I"d say the prices were due to the Winter coming up and people not wanting to store them, but since It's LA I'd just have to think some folks aren't making it as actors and want to dump them quick for rent money.
Due to the price asked and the mileage being so high I'd definitely take a close look at any of them before pulling the trigger. You might have a lot of things about to go wrong, meaning that $5k easily turns into $10-$15k if you cant' do the wrenching yourself.

I have struggled with the concept that low miles = good mechanical condition. It seems reasonable to me that if a 20 yr car has 60k or 40k, it had to sit for lengths of time. & I personally have had bad luck in the past with cars that sat I bought and they ending up costing me way more than anticipated due to brittle hoses/wires etc.
So what I struggle with is do you look for low mile cars that may have brittle rubber and plastic components or, look for cars that have been driven and have odometers that reflect it?
It seems like the cars that have been driven, at least if reasonably maintained, would represent less risk than a car that has sat. Would you disagree?

AgentEran, I totally agree. I feel as though a car with 10k miles while may be in great shape, needs just as much upkeep as a car that has 110k miles on it. I however feel that a car with between 50-70k miles has also been enjoyed as much as it has been stored (2-4k miles per year depending on age). If you have maintenance records that's even better. Somewhere on this forum is a car that has 400k miles on it and is still running strong! You are very correct in that it's all about how well it's been taken care of.
That said, it's always prudent to check/replace hoses, and replace fluids when you buy a used car of ANY age. I know that if I looked at a C4 or C5 with 120+ miles there are parts of it that had better be immaculate in order to me to believe it was in the condition I would want to buy it. Some wear and tear things (like seats) are unavoidable, but there are lots of ways to take care of a car so that it wears as you would expect a 20 year old car to, as opposed to a car that has been ridden hard.
There will always be new threads with recurring subject matter... That is a fact. NO reason to get offended or blast someone for it. Maybe for 2015 people in this forum can accept this reality. Lol

Yeah, very true. At the very minimum, if something like that bothers you so much, you could always provide a link to the same-topic thread and suggest they take it there. Even then, not everyone is going to scour an entire forum every single time they have something they want to talk about, so why bother?
Anyway, back to topic: Some of those listings in the LA area I'm familiar with. The first one in particular as I have it bookmarked. Up here in the Vegas area has me scratching my head, though. lol

Yea that one seems to be sorted out pretty well with all the recent maintenance.. Not a bad color either.
Agree, re: low miles doesn't equate to low cost to run. I bought my car at 40,8xx miles last September (car is 1994 so it was 20 model years old) and had plenty of minor issues to deal with right away, as the car sat for basically the last two years.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a C4 or C5 in good mechanical condition with 100K+ miles on it. If maintained properly, these cars can reach 200K miles and beyond.
i guess as i see the C5 prices drop, it sort of makes me wonder if the C4 prices that i've seen are a bit too high.
but honestly some of the C5 prices just amaze me....

No, it is for the same reasons as everywhere else. Need cash out to buy a newer car and/or to avoid repairs or a new set of tires.
The one thing that will make a car worthless here is not being able to pass the emissions test. If you live somewhere that doesn't test, you can get CA cars that don't pass smog for a song.

Should start buying those cars and shipping them over here. I could sell them in Florida where they don't care if you even have an exhaust system.
