I am replacing the headlight switch as the cluster lights will not come on at night. Through the forum it seemed to be the switch.
I got it out and replaced it with a new one, relative easy with the forum input. Everything worked except the headlights would not retract! Put the old one back in and they worked fine. Took the new back and got another one. Same problem!!!!????
Could this just be an amazing coincidence (two bad ones) or is there something I should be checking????

When the headlight switch is in park or head, depending on the position of the dimmer switch a voltage is placed on the INST 3 amp fuse. This fuse provides the voltage for back lighting for the PRND indicator, the wiper switch, radio, Driver Info Center, Heater/AC controls and the Dash cluster bulbs whose brightness also depends on the ambient light sensor. If all of the bulbs don't work, the fuse is probably blown. If only the cluster has a problem could be the ambient light sensor is bad. Shine a light on the sensor and the cluster back lighting should get brighter. Block the sensor and the back lighting should dim.
