I never got in the habit of using those things anyhow and I hate it when my passengers flop those things down, 'Why don't ya just slap some duct tape on my RayBans while you're at it?'
Took mine off last night and discovered a bonus;
3-4 more inches of sky with the lid off, it actually feels like an open car now, and it looks much cleaner from the outside without those goofy things sticking out.
A few years ago I liberated the visors on my girlfiend's Fiat Spyder during a vapor lock incident and it made it a better car. Kinda :mad at myself for not thinking of that when I bought the 'Vette.
Couple of down sides:
If you're going to ride with me, invest in some legitimate sunglasses. I will make an extra pair available but can almost guarantee they will not compliment your sense of style, unless you're into that whole 1970s Elton John look.
Also, now there's no vanity mirror for the ladies. Maybe I could relocate one to the glovebox...oh...that's right...
I've been thinking about this since I'm tall and could use the extra visibility. Just got a C4 sunscreen and would wonder what might hold that up. (Here in sunny Northern CA, I need that sunscreen!)
Rocketfinger, I might try removing them and see how it works. Thanks!
:cheers:
Damn! I thought they were holders for my garage door opener :D
Mine actully look like the last owner's wife has re-covered them (badly), maybe I'll take 'em off, they've gotta be good for about 5-10HP due to weight savings :lol:
i actually wedged a paper clip in the seam, worked pretty well. but im very intrigued about just taking them off altogether. worried about the sun shade though. it will be harder to hold it up
I took mine off a couple of years ago and never missed them. My ex used to give me a hard time about no vanity mirror though but she didn't like riding in the Vette anyway because the seat didn't recline so she could sleep while we were travelling .........too bad.........
Only downside was I keep my garage door opener in the console and when I went to use it this morning I had the console locked and had to shut the eng off to take out the key to open the console.........duh.......
