As I go through the journey of getting my car where I want it, the interior needs some work. My shiftboot is old and crusty, the seats could use some new covers as well. My carpet is pretty dirty since the car was previously driven on gravel roads a lot. There is a ton of dust everywhere.
My question is who makes a good shiftboot for our cars? I would like Black Suede or fake suede even.
Where is the best place to buy a headliner for the targa top that is a suede like material?
How much do seat covers usually run? Are they all the same?
most corvette vendors have carpet kits...3=5 hundred...I got seat covers, leather from corvette america for 1100. very nice stuff...ecklers or corvette central have them too. You get what you pay for....don't get cheap crap, it won't hold up...
Get ready to spend $2K or so for new quality items getting everything sorted out. Everything for our cars is ridiculously expensive. Corvette America is about the only manufacturer and they supply most of the retailers I believe. There are some good deals for leather seat covers on eBay I understand. You might find some good carpet sets and door cards from the recyclers but its kinda hit and miss.
I purchasedmy new shift boot from www.redlinegoods.com this winter. Really nice product and can be customized to almost whatever you want. They have lots of options for making something that is original for your vette.
This is what I ordered fro my car. The silver stripe matches my paints color and the red thread matches the embroidery in my seat head rests. It looks great and cost about $100.00
I redid my headliner with some fabric i purchased from a Jo-Ann Fabrics store. I'm sure you can find some suede. That and a can of 3M spray adhesive and you're golden.
I was quoted from a reputable trim shop $900 for both seats leather, $450 for vinyl. I had my headliner done there for $100 but it is just regular headliner material, not suede.
I have used leather-like seat covers on three cars and they held up great. The ones in my 92 have been there for about 8 years and they look great. Leather in my convertibles never seemed to hold up well.
If you know the specifics of your car, ebay is a great source. Found a great dash kit the other day:
