new engine
I think the replacement engine choice depends on a number of factors; the cost of another engine can vary based on a local rebuild of your engine or simply buying a complete long-block replacement. Are you going to do the engine R&R yourself? Have a shop do it? Do you have any power goals? Stock engine or add go-fast stuff?
One thing to consider is that most good crate motors will have some warranty period. It can be from 1 year/10K miles to as much as 3 yrs and 100K miles. Taking your engine to a machine shop for a rebuild may only get you 90 days/1000 miles for a warranty. And that may only be for the machine work, parts they provide, and assembly.
Crate motors come fully assembled and ready to install. Figure a week or less from the time you order to having the delivery truck pull up to your garage. Depending on how busy a local machine shop is, it could take up to a month to get your engine back.
old one had 120K and I bow a head casket and eat a piston or something, cause it made a hell of a noise after over heating due to
blown head gasket and the drain plug blown out of the rad...I use it as a DD about two ride a day around my area here in Florida. I am retired and love to drive it, its just a toy for me....my 3rd vet.(67-427 was 1st, then a 68 327-350 horse as 2nd, now this one.) The engine cost me 2600 and labor 1600, plus new water pump, opti-spark, rad, all new hoses and belt, thermostat. I am guessing that it will be good for another 120K easily. Dropped it off last Wed and should have it back Mon or Tue.. 3yr unlimited miles....every thing came to 5 grand. Thats about all the car cost me.... LOL Men and their toys huh????

Ever think about a used one? Do a search for Corvette recycling to find one. I like www.vette2vette.com
that Jasper is a very good choice for a reman engine. Their replacement engines have a 3 year/100K warranty. And if you don't want a stock replacement, Jasper has a very good line of performance engines that will save you from having to figure out what upgrades will work. It's too easy to get talked into parts that won't play well together...
