I just noticed that the courtesy lights are not working when the door is opened on my 95 vert. When I turn the dimmer on my headlights they do turn on. I jiggled the door switches and nothing. It was working fine a week ago. It is hooked up to a battery tender as I do not use the car too often. Any suggestions will be appreciated
Thanks
Crazy everything works. Maybe lack of use but today I took it out and pulled it back in the garage and it did not work. I tried it now an hour later and everything works. It did work but after a few minutes it went out again. Back to square 1. It's very intermittent.
Thanks
I had a similar problem with my 88. Courtesy light timer was flakey. Not sure if your 95 has same setup.
Give that man a cigar. Interior Light Delay Relay is what it's called IIRC. On an 86 it's supposed to be taped onto the wiring harness on the passenger side inside the dash. I've spent over a year trying to find mine without tearing out the dash - no luck so far.
You can get another relay from Eckler for most models or there's a way (at least on mine) supposedly to tie 3 wires together and it works as a conventional car will.

These lights are a pain. I just gave up and pulled a fuse. No way am I going to rip the dash apart to get to the box.
One more thing on that relay. From what I've read, leave a door open with the interior lights on for an extended period of time can kill the relay - just FYI

It's taped to the wiring harness that goes to the fuse block and is located very close to the fuse block. Mine had electrical tape wrapped around it so it was sort of hidden.

One of these days I'll give it another shot but so far I'm batting zero seeing, feeling or finding that thing and I bought a relay over a year ago so I'd like to get it replaced.
According to Ecklers, you can test the relay by disconnecting the relay and use the horn relay or fuel pump relay to test it as it's the same relay. If you still have the same problem then it is the timer itself which would have to be a used part as they do not make the part anymore. I do not even know the location of the timer.
I don't think it's broke. My 90 coupe does the same thing. When it's outside in the sunshine the courtesy lights do not come on. When I pull it back in the garage they still don't come on for at least a couple of minutes. Maybe the timer works both ways. When the light sensor senses bright light it inhibits the courtesy lights and then when the car is back in the garage they still don't work. Then they do.
So, I had the car outside with no courtesy lights then I covered the sensor with my finger and they came back on shortly.
Sometimes when the car is in the garage, I'll open up the doors and the courtesy lights come on but as soon as I close the door, they go out instantly without a delay. It always stayed on after closing the door for a certain amount of time then went off. To me it sounds like the timer and not the relay but I hope I'm wrong as it may be hard to locate as they are discontinued.
Thanks all for the replies. Either part will be a pain to replace as I'm not getting any younger. I will try covering up the sensor to see what happens. Mine works the same as yours. If I pull the car outside no courtesy lights. After a short time in the garage (a few minutes) they come on but no delay when I close the door. I know this is not normal as it did work before

Strange but true.
Where is the location of the sensor? Is it the one on top of the dashboard in the center or the sensor by the "trip monitor "
