Hi
I'm wondering what the amp relays does on a 1984 corvette with bose.
I'm having a problem when radio is turned up to half to full volume my front right speaker works perfect. When the volume is below half and very low volume my front right speaker doesn't have sound coming out of it. All the speakers are working great. I have already exchanged wires to front left speaker and it does the same thing as the right did. So it can't be the amp or speakers. I have tried two 1984 corvette radio's and a 1995 Camaro radio. All the radios are doing the same thing. Can anyone help me out with suggestion. That's why I'm asking about the amp relay
thanks

when speaker is not working as it should, try wiggling the radio ***** as well as base and treble
Thanks
The 1995 Camaro radio is new rebuilt and wiggling ***** bass and treble doesn't work. I had 2 original radio's and the Camaro radio doing the same. I also replace the white plug for front speakers. I has to be in wiring or something else but not the radios or speakers or amp

The Bose amp relay provides power to the individual amplifiers at each of the speakers. A bad relay can cause a speaker to not operate properly or not at all. A bad relay can also cause a squealing noise.
Another possibility is a bad amplifier for that particular speaker.
On my '87, the amp relay is behind the radio and just to the right of it. Might be the same location for an '84? Relays are not expensive so it may be worth replacing it.
Hi
Thanks
I don't really think its the amp for the speaker because I can just exchange wires around and it follows the speaker. Not the same one
So that's why I was wondering what the amp relay does. The more volume the speaker works , less volume it doesn't. .It really puzzles me
thanks again

The Bose Speaker Relay only handles the power to the amps, and has no connection to the audio signal wiring. If you can get to the pink/black wire at any of the four amps, you should be able to verify you have a solid 12v. when the radio is turned on. If this 12v. gets erratic because of a bad relay, that will make the amps squeal.
That relay is difficult to get to on the '84!

I can't follow your logic here. You are aware there are amps behind each speaker, aren't you? It sounds like the procedure explained here confirms the speaker is good, but makes me question the amp.
Swapping out the head unit confirms the head unit is good, but I'm still questioning the amp behind your speaker.
Hi
if It is the amp. Why does it follow the speaker when I hook up the front left speaker to the front right side and it does the same thing. This is what I don't understand. I was thinking amp but when I hooked front left speaker up to the radio it did the same thing as the front right speaker did. That why I was thinking radio problem. So I got another radio and it did the same thing. That's why I was asking about the amp relay. I did put a new white plug on for the fronts which we are having this problem also. When you turn up volume all speakers work great and when you turn down volume 3 speakers work with no sound out of right side.
thanks for your help

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you have removed the two front speakers, then connected the wires coming out of the right door to the left speaker. If this is true, you are still using the same amp that is inside the right door to operate the left speaker. Have I misunderstood something?

Hi
Sorry if I didn't explain it right. I hooked after the radio by the wiring harness. So they where both going through there amp. I really was hoping it was the amp but both sides did the same thing. So then I was thinking it was the radio so I bought another radio and it did the same thing. I really don't think both radios would do the same thing. That's why I was asking about the amp relay.
thanks

Hi
I finally got all speakers to work. It was the harness wiring Had to the hook up the front speakers wires from - wire to the + wire and all started to work like normal. It took time but its working.
Thanks for all the suggestions
