Default Worn door lock

The driver's door lock on my '93 seems worn, as is the key, and sometimes makes the car difficult to unlock, needing a lot of key wiggling, and handle lifting before I'm able to turn the key. I don't have a remote (it didn't come with one, suspect the PO didn't have it either). I'm in the UK, so a bit vague about what was original. So (1) Is it possible/affordable to buy a remote and link it to the car? (2) Can I still buy a new lock and key? This seems like the cheaper option.
Thanks.

I'd get the door panel off and see if it's really the key cylinder or the linkage that is the problem

Also a good idea. I've got several other jobs to do (swop mirrors from "Euro-Spec" to "USA-Spec", window adjustment, various rattles) while I'm in there. Thanks.

Default Locks and Keys

Previous suggestions are better, but yes you can buy a key Fob on Ebay for $129 (US) and program it to your car. Actually, the other ideas are better as the Fobs are a pain sometimes!

You're right. I'll think I'll get it working properly first, then investigate a remote fob. Thanks
