Please help.No where on earth, can I seem to get a picture of a power steering pump and its plumbing when it is attached to the block(94 LT1)I got two replacement pumps from a local store. What happens,is I mount the pump to the block, and the return pipe does not fit to its mount holes on the pass side of the block.I compaired the original pump to the first replacement pump, and they matched. The second was the same.I returned both of them and got one from Eklers.Again after mounting the new pump,it was the same. The hoses are exact sizes of the old ones, and they are pushed together as far as they will go from the pump steel hose,to the steel return line.Still no go.I even thought of running a braided line across the bottom of the block, and doing away with the steel line.Looking in the service manual, there is an awful drawing that seems to have the steel hose coming off the pump in a position more toward the drivers side. That would make more sense. Please help if you can.Thanks.
Just so you are aware, getting the holes to line up with the screws is a bitch. They will line up, you just have to work at it. The best thing is to just start the screws 8-10 turns each. When you have them all in then tighten....don't forget to add the hose connector between the line and the pump before tightening. The tube that is shown on your picture is the feed line that comes from the reservoir to this tube. It is low pressure. The high pressure line screws into the top/side of the pump. I believe that the low pressure tube couples to the steel line that runs from the reservoir to the pump with a 5/8" diameter hose and two hose clamps. You can get yourself a little more play between the line and the tube using a little longer piece of hose. Not a easy task getting them coupled back together again.
It took me about 5 minutes of jockeying the pump while carefully threading each bolt a small amount until I was positive the threads were safe to user socket
Before you start the car don't forget to use the new O ring on the high pressure fitting and hand turn the pump pulley until you feel its pushing fluid.
