I will agree that the forum atmosphere has changed in the last 15 years.
If the O.P. thinks the "General or Technical Discussion" catagories can get a little harsh at times, try posting almost anything in the "Off Topic" forum.

If one has been on this forum for any length of time, it cannot be denied that a few people here are very knowledgeable about our cars and mechanics in general. However, if you are new and not used to the condescending attitude that a couple of members possess, you probably made your first and last post. This place is like when you were in high school. Think, do, and say what the "quarterback" does and you will be OK. If you dare to question or ask for a clarification, you will be immediately hit with snippy and/or insulting replies. This all comes from people who would tell the OP not to get butt hurt!
