Is there a way to prevent/block someone from posting replies on a thread I've created?

 

No, but if you block that user, YOU won't see his replies!

I've read over that thread. Op, if you don't like the answers, either respond or walk away. No one was being disparaging, there was no name calling until you called yourself a "dumb ***." Many of the members that chimed in have been members for years and have helped hundreds of other forum members solve their problems. If you are that sensitive, get out of the sun.

 

Oh good lord. How many do you want to block? All the ones who know what they're talking about? Thought you said you weren't offended? So that would mean we're "all good"...right?

 

You were around back in the day a few years ago when I was here before, don't know how some of today's members would have survived back then. I've been back just a few weeks and have seen more people get their hackles up over nothing.

Isn't this just an Internet forum? Why all the seriousness?

 

Use the "Ignore" feature. This will cause the text of any reply that the Ignored member makes to not appear. The username will be there as will the space where the reply text would be. Only you will not see the reply; others that have not placed that user on their Ignore list will see that users reply and they can quote the reply and that will be visible to you .

Somebody who is on your Ignore list and starts a thread will be visible to you.

 

Not to fan the flames, but any response that has Tom400CFI to the left of said response is usually something you want to pay close attention to.

Seriously, there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and to the best of my knowledge it doesn't cost anyone anything.

The best piece of advise I can give is to keep in mind that while you don't agree with someone that doesn't mean they shouldn't get their say so to speak.

It would be the same thing if you posted in their thread with something you wanted to add or if you didn't agree with them. Your getting your say to.

Another thing is this may be America but when posting on a forum you have NO rights what so ever. Its the whim of the forum owner, their admins, mods etc as to what you get to post. All the red faced ranting in the world isn't going to change that and will more than likely just get you banned faster

Now all that out of the way. Just think of this as club meeting place. Its where some come to learn, some come to share whatever, some come to help others and some just wander by for entertainment. Theres no way all those different types are going to agree on what beer to serve at the meeting let alone what each other has to say about stuff.

To me a good person to be around is the person that shares what they know but is willing to learn what they don't know and at least listen to what others have to say even if you don't agree with it.

Heck tom400ci and I FLAT OUT don't agree on the l98 vs lt1 torque thing. You don't see us trying to kill each other over it. He's entitled to his opinion and beliefs just as much as I am. It isn't my purpose in life to change his opinion nor is it his purpose either. There is such a thing as agreeing to dis-agree.

Relax... it's all about cars nothing personal here. You other thread is a bit much I suppose but not like any that I started on other forums and got called real names and foul language. Your car will make more hp, your wallet will be lighter and you will feel accomplished to have personalized your vette. Welcome to the club. The person I think you want to block is usually a strong contributer of good info and or at least goo food for thought.
