I have been looking through the forum and on vatssucks.com and noticed that most instructions on solving the vats issues are from 1986 and up. Did 85 not have VATS? also if it did, where can I find instructions to bypass it. Thanks!
I don't think 85's had that. If it does, bypassing is super easy. Find the ohms of your key pellet. Buy the bypass with same ohm value. Take off carpet under the steering wheel. You'll see an orange wire, that's where you connect the bypass. Again, this is if your car has it.

The '85 does have a starter interrupt relay (similar to the VATS relay and serves the same function) that is controlled by the TDS (Theft Deterrent System). It's located in the center cluster behind the DIC (Driver Information Center).

Why be so he!! bent on bypassing something that you don't even know is broken and admittedly don't understand.
What problem do you actually think you have? I'm guessing no FSM either. Hard to work on OR get someone to work on these 30 year old cars unless you have/understand maybe the FSM or can supply the information to someone that understands but likely doesn't have the documentation.
