I have a faulty fuel gauge and until the Techron kicks in or I break down and buy a new sending unit....figured I use my odometer to prevent running out. Approximately how many miles can I get on a full tank approximately? Thanks
depends on how you drive - city, highway, combo, transmission, gearing, L98, LT1, ??? - lots of factors. on my 90, overall, I average about 17-18 miles per gallon combo - old school calculation. if it was for my car, I'd use 15 miles/gallon, and hit the pumps every couple hundred miles. I would still fix the problem and not take chances.
Around 250- 300 just to be safe, your mileage will very with driving style.

Calculate your average fuel economy after the first few fill-ups and use that to gauge how far you can go on a 20-gallon tank. Assuming you generally drive the same routes/conditions/driving style.
Although just to be safe, I recommend not going more than 300 miles between fillups until you get it fixed.
Or you could use my college roommate's philosophy, check your odometer and drive until you run out. Then you know you went a little too far! Seriously, 250-300 miles should be reasonable unless you get on it a lot. I wouldn't base it on the 30 mpg idea without a working gauge.
