I am looking for a weekend driver that I can have fun with until I find a C-2 that I can afford. I came across this and was interested. I saw the car and drove it, everything seemed to be as it should, drove nice etc..... My only concern is that the clutch engaged very high almost to the top. Most manuals I drove engaged somewhere in the middle, but this was very high. What does that tell you? Any advice would be appreciated
I called and talked to Chris. I can't remember now if it was this one or another one that mentioned a possible rear oil seal leak. So the vehicle in real good shape as he has it advertised as? I'm from Michigan so it makes it difficult to come and see it. Said he had some wiggle room on the price too in one of the emails. I was looking for a six speed ruby to go along with my ruby coupe. But with upcoming surgery's coming up will put a hold on buying anything.

HI Scott,
Thanks for your reply. Chris seemed like a real nice guy, easy to talk to and he knew a lot about the car. I don't think this was the car with the leak. I was going to offer him 10K for the car but before I could make an offer he told me he turned down $11,800.
I think I am going to make him a $10,500 Cash in hand. What do you think about the clutch? Is it normal to grab almost at the top?
Thanks again
It just might be air or low fluid in the system. Never had a problem with mine but replaced mine when the engine was out with a new OEM dual mass flywheel and OEM clutch, plate and throw out bearing. I thin 10500-11000 cash sounds pretty good offer. I found a hardtop for it in Detroit for $600 that I was considering for the convertible, but would need to be repainted from white to ruby. Keep us informed!
Just came across another 93 convertible up near Albany listed om eBay from a dealer with 72233 miles with a hard top. Talked to mike. They were asking $ 19995, which is pretty steep. $ 12-13000.00 is a more realistic price depending upon other conditions. Any word back from chris on price?
The "feel" of a hydraulic clutch is different than a mechanical.
My experience with hydraulic clutches is they do tend to 'bite' consistently and higher on the stroke than mechanical. And, as the disc wears, a mechanical 'bite" will change considerably more than the hydraulic ones do.
I would suggest you compare hydraulic clutches "feel" of a couple other C4s before drawing any conclusions about the one in question. And, of course, what condition is the clutch fluid in on the car in question?
