Using an appropriately sized flat blade screwdriver, depress and twist counter clock-wise a quarter of a turn. The spring will exit the knuckle half facing you.
i tried turning it so hard im afraid of stripping it, is there anything else thats preventing it from turning

You didn't depress it then. It should be "effortless", well maybe nearly LOL
Also, put the column in the most "up" position. That relieves some of the spring tension. As memory serves me, I remember that a 1/4" drive extension will fit the square hole and with a ratchet, will give you something that is easier to push.
put steering column up and spring came out no problem, just have to get the pins out, not sure if i will buy a puller, i went to a couple places and didnt have what i would need or just make something up to pull the pins

Try a 10/32 thread in the pin, I don't recall the thread but that's best I recall and first that came to mind. If that's it then it's very straight forward to create the puller required. I'll leave you to figure out the "creativity" required.
Did you remove the column?
Just wondering, I need to do this too.

Yes, at this point you need to remove the column. That is so you can remove the lower shaft, to replace the knuckle. I do hope you have invested in a Factory Service Manual. It will be of great help.
