There is a strange paradox at work in rust belt states. Corvettes are sort of unexposed to the salt issue here in Michigan, even though we dump so much salt of the roads that most people that live here can barely afford the property taxes. The reality of the situation is this; no one living here wants to make their personal life more difficult than it already is during the wintertime, therefore we don't drive our corvettes in the winter, and therefore they don't suffer from the salt issue like other cars. Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a rust belt Corvette.
So I'm checking out this guys videos on youtube, I go get a drink and comeback, Youtube is on "auto play" even though I've toggled that off about 100 times in the last month LOL
He's doing an A/C compressor on a camry holy smokes the car is so corroded and down right nasty underneath, Don't suppose I'd buy a car from a "road salt" state which got me thinking
it never rains in california....................
The salt on the road destroys cars here! 10 year old trucks, if the owner isn't on top of it byebye fenders and rockers!
We have very harsh winters in Winnipeg which leads to a lot of road salt. Most cars don't even make it to 10 years before the rust starts. My 90' is from Arizona and has never seen the winters here, so it's in great shape.
I guess it was a Kids Quote here last week, that got me thinking about geographical locations to avoid, when buying a used car. He stated
"mines had seven owners, but at least it's from florida"
Florida, haha, I see cars here rusty as heck also. Unless they live a pampered life the humidity here does em in. and dont forget the drive to the beach when u live inland and never washing the saltwater off.
