Car #1:
1989 Coupe Red on black RPO R7F 1 of 60 built for the Corvette Challenge Series. Of the 60 12 Red cars were produced, 6 converted 6 were not. This car was not converted.
First day we got the car home 2 years ago.
Car #2:
1991 ZR-1 Car was not built by GM and never went down the BG assembly line. Hand built in Grand Rapids, MI by a World Challenge Race team. Car is Pontiac Bright White and the motor is a Black Bakeracing LT5 done before the Rippie Cars.
Car #3:
1996 GS Coupe Red Guts with Z51 and R8C. Out of all of the options this is 1 of 2 cars produced and the first of the two.
Not sure how to calculate total rarety, but mine is:
95 coupe total 15,771 of 20,742
competition yellow 1,003 of 20,742
MN6 4,784 of 20,742
FX3 3,421 of 20,742
Sport seats 7,908 of 20,742
Z07 753 of 20,742
My '88 base coupe is an oddball. Late build (June 1988) with hardly any options yet was built with dual power Sport seats. The Medium Grey interior makes it one of 973 coupes with that color interior for 1988. It also has the DNE 4+3 which makes it one of 2,971 with it. Not rare but unusual.
There were a few color options that were "rare" in the sense that not many cars were painted in those colors. For example, my '87 coupe is Gold Metallic and there were only 397 gold cars in '87. In '94, there was a Copper Metallic and only 116 were painted that color. It was a paint quality issue, not the color itself.
In '95, there were only 527 cars painted in dark purple and white. Other C4 years probably had some non-popular colors too.
Here's a source to look at production option numbers. The Corvette Black Book would be another good source.
Haha thanks! The interior color on mine makes it, technically, rare. However that doesn't make it valuable as it sits. But overall it's an unusual car especially for an end of year build where they are trying to get rid of the options laying around that will not be on the next model year.
And it's mine and it's what I wanted...so, it's value to me is just in owning it, rare or not.
I have a 91 black convertible with red interior. I have had it for 15 years, and have never seen another one with that combination. Nor have I ever seen a picture of one on the Internet. And I've been into about 4 different Corvette forums/groups.
I have an 87 4+3 with no rear window defrost,no power seats.I looked at a website that stated that only 1100+ were built with no rear defrost. Also no cruise control.Standard suspension.+ extra fan in front of the radiator.Kind of an odd beast.
