Can't thank this forum enough. Already has helped me quickly resolve issues that, with help from others, I was able to fix myself rather than spend precious dollars !!
My new quest, upgrading my headlights.
Looking for any suggestions from others who may have found the best alternative to the stock headlights ?
Before buying any kit or project I'd add relays and get full alternator output to what's there before moving on. If you've a DMM or VM measure what's at the HL now and then imagine what 14V might accomplish. You'll need to upgrade some wires but regardless of your choices I'd do this first.
This first can certainly be a mind changer for shopping some of the higher priced conversion packages.
Daniel Stern is mentioned frequently but you don't need him, there's many good reads. GOOGLE might be a good "first look".
your going to get many answers. this has been up to vote many times. might see a tussle or two. I went with cibies with relays and 12 gauge wire. look at Daniel Sterns website alot of good info!
Most practical upgrade is LED headlights. Its plug and play without worrying about burning up your wiring harness or light switch but it is also the most expensive. Then you have the Hella and projector upgrade that will need a relay and wire to the battery to avoid damage to your wiring harness and light switch. Its been said that you can go Hella with a 60/55w bulb safely on the factory harness and switch but I wouldn't risk it on an older car and I would want a higher light output than 60/55w.
Amazon sells a Hella kit with bulbs for about $100.00 depending on the bulbs you want. Trucklite has a bad azz LED kit but its $400.00 for both lights. The LED kit is very low wattage so you just put the lights in and use your factory headlight plug with no worries about over heating anything.

I live in Georgia so snow is not a issue. Will be in the 70's here all week. Besides I thought all you peeps that live in snowy climates put your vette's up for the winter.
I know that I'm going to get "ripped" by some of the members for suggesting a low-end, foreign part. I just can tell you that I am very happy with this item.
When I purchased my current vehicle, I noticed that one headlight was really the "poor cousin" compared to the other. Further inspection revealed that one headlight was glass and the other was plastic. Well, I purchased these on Ebay for less than $40.00 for the pair; and I am very satisfied with their appearance.

There are a ton of threads/fights recently covering about everything known to man that makes light that we all have tried on our vettes. I quick search should find tons of links.

Good choice.
By far the most simple improvement you can give your headlights are Cibie or Hella E-codes and 100/80W H4 bulbs. The cost is reasonable, they are proven and reliable, and the replacement is easy. They are also extremely effective. While relays would be icing on the cake, they aren't required. My C4's system handles the two headlights fine, although my old Chevy pickup, with four headlights, required a relay system; the stock system would trip a circuit breaker any time the headlights were turned on.

100/80 I believe your pushing it to far for stock wireing.
