Weather stripping is probably bad, really the most information you can get from the owner always helps, they are old cars and have been through many owners, atleast most of them (mine being 7 owners and 1 owner did 166k miles while the next 6 did 5k miles total) carfax is always good, posting pictures of the car always helps on this thread (most of us can point out things a lot of people don't see, different exhaust, paint, replaced parts or panels switched from a previous/newer year corvette) also, the price is another thing, just because it has 61,000 miles does not mean it's worth a lot of money. I'm sure others will put in their info aswell, also welcome to the forum!

thanks i appreciate it. i am a full time mechanic and am obviously aware of the obvious (paint, mechanical, etc) but i would like more specific c4 info. it is 6000 dollars and i will post pics soon. what are some problems that only gen 1 c4 owners would know. i know the dash likes to act up on some, but havent heard of many more specific issues. its pre opti spark. the previous owner did cats, fuel pump and other random things recently

Do a search here or Google on how to service the overdrive on the 4+3 transmission. Clean out the area between the radiator and the AC condenser. Look for loose door panels, bolster wear on the driver's seat. Test all the electrical switches, and headlights. The intake manifolds like to leak and the fuel injectors might need replacement. At some time you should replace the O rings in the fuel rail system - you will probably find them very dry. Check the radiator for banged up/mashed surfaces and make sure it is not leaking - the original ones had plastic side tanks that crack. Check wheel bearings, suspension rubbers and shocks. L98s have a tendency to have leaky power brake boosters. Check the brake hoses for rot. Look underneath at the floor pans as many have put floor jacks through the fiberglass. Heater cores tend to leak eventually. The Bose speakers can crack and not work very well. The gas filler bib has a drain hole in the rear, driver's side. Run a wire down there to make sure spider gunk or debris has not plugged it up. If it is not clear then driving in the rain can form a pool of water that gets sucked into the filler tube. Make sure the spare is good and that the jack, handle and the key to the lug nuts lock is with the car.
