If I was having a car painted and the shop told me it would only last a few years for $3000.00, I'd go to another shop. Preferably one who knows what they're doing. I've seen some really nice spray jobs done for half that amount that have held up very good years afterwards. It's all about taking care of the car. A $10,000.00 job will look bad in a few years too if you don't clean, wax and maintain the finish.

I can definitely see the benefits of wrapping a car. Unless you paint you car yourself, wrapping IS a cheaper alternative. Wrap is completely reversible, which may not be a big deal to you if your paint is shot, but certainly is nice if you're wrapping a newer car. The colors are endless with wrap, including mattes, satin and metallic finishes which are becoming very popular nowadays. I know flat/matte black has been popular with hot-rodders for years and I think we can all agree that a wrapped, matte finish has a much more consistent finish then a painted, matte surface.
