Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for an 89 master cylinder ? GM parts shows it as discontinued, and the only other one that I have found was $200 for the kit. Originality is not really the issue, I can get an aftermarket MC for around $125, but I figured rebuilding the original would be even cheaper.
About ten years ago I could not find a MC 'kit' for the '85 I had. Had to get a new MC, think I got it at NAPA. Fast forward to 2 years ago and had same problem trying to find a kit for my '86. NAPA had nothing, net even a new MC. So I went to ebay and found a 'new one'. Fortunately it has turned out ok. Still have the old MC's from the '85 and the '86 waiting for that day when a kit is available.
Now none of this helps you, just wanted to pass on my experience and let you know that MC kits for these early cars are apparently just not available. You either try to find a new replacement or go for one from one of the Vette recyclers. Best of luck.

Thanks, I figured they were thin on the ground. I can get a rebuilt one, but I am not sure how much I would trust it, especially the way I drive.
