Default Preventative maintenance on a C4?

As you may have seen in a previous post, I am considering the purchase of a C4 Corvette. I have completed negotiation and I am due to pick up the car on Wednesday.

The car appears to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. I would very much like to keep it that way.

Unfortunately for me and the car, I do not have a garage to store it in at this time. The car does come with a cover but I don't believe it is waterproof, it seems to just be a cloth cover.

So I have a few specific questions:

Cosmetically, how can I keep the car looking good through the summer? (I will have a garage to store it in the late fall).

The car is black and since it will be in the sun for the next several months of hot weather, is there a particular wax or other type of protecting that I can put on the paint to keep it looking good?

The weatherstripping looks to be in excellent condition. Is there anything I can treat it with to keep it that way?

The leather interior is also in great condition. Aside from one small tear on the left side of the driver seat, it really looks good. What would you guys recommend as a good leather treatment?

How about that dash? Like everything else, it is in great condition. What should I use to keep it from getting faded, dried up and cracked?

Mechanically the car seems to be excellent. After doing some research, I know what to look for prior to purchase. I don't plan on beating on the car but I do want to have fun with it. Is there any preventative maintenance to keep it running good and save me repair money in the long run?

As usual, all advice, ideas and input is very much appreciated.

Exciting! I can't answer about outdoor storage, but to keep the weatherstrip nice use GM's lube..

Unless there are receipts to prove it, my first move is to change all fluids and coolant hoses if they are still original. Engine oil, Trans fluid, clutch fluid( if manual) power steering, brake, coolant, diff. Change it all.

Additional include checking the air pressure in the tires, check the ball joints and u-joints. Change the various filters as you're changing the fluids. Get yourself a small tool kit to keep in the car DAMHIK.
Exercise it on a regular basis. Keep the sun off the car as best you can till you can get it into a garage (mines in a garage so that's up to you). If you're not driving it on a regular basis, I'd unhook the battery when not in use for a while.

Just some random thoughts.

Before you buy the car you gotta research the clutch replacement stuff. I just replied to your other thread w/ a little info on that.

And unless you become a C4 expert between now and Wed you will probably find a couple things the car needs after you buy it. That's what happened to me but overall I found a solid car that just needs minor things (like the headlight motor piece that's worn out)

Make sure you have the key to the locking lugs and the jack and its handle. Lube the jack's screw and run it up and down a few times. Make sure the spare is inflated and in good shape.
Run a wire down the drain hole in the left rear corner of the fuel filler rubber bib. If it is full of spider crud etc then it will not drain in heavy rain and you will be sucking water into the fuel tank.
Google "tire manufacture date" to find out how old the tires are. Some suggest that they be replaced between 5-10 years of age.
Have a spare set of keys made "just in case".
Enjoy!
