My corvette has been in storage for the past few years whilst i found a painter willing to take on an entire respray after a very poor paint job 10 years ago.
Unfortunately the car has been stored at a friends and he has managed to lose the keys
Please note i am based in the uk and so i need to know if anyone knows how i could go about getting another set of keys made. Is the ignition barrel easy to remove? if so i will remove it and get a key cut and order a vat bypass kit.
Have him take a better look there are 15 differant resistors. You can get them all in a kit from ebay or if you can find someone with a potentiometer not sure if spelled right. You can get the right key from them as well. Then get the key cut. You might try emailing some dealers here they might be able to get you the key code.
I am not sure how far back they can go, but I have had dealers cut keys from the VIN. Not sure if GM of Europe would be able to do that, maybe try a forum dealer.
Personally I think the ignition lock cylinder is very easy to remove, but I have a steering wheel puller and the lock plate tools. So its a 20 min job for me. It's probably extremely difficult without the proper tools.
Dont worry guys i had to sell it due to losing storage and moving miles away to a new location. Good news is i bought another which is already on the road and a bid different.
