Here is my series of events:

Changed out spark plugs and now the temp gauge is not working.

Went to had a radiator flush and during the flush my car stalled and alt starting smoking like a cigarette was sitting on it for a few secs. Come to find out the battery needs replaced and the alt is bad. Is this all just a coincidence or do I have a lemon?

I am taking alt off and having it rebuilt. Should I also replace the plugs?

I also left the int lights on last night and had to jump it this am. after getting started I got the Service TWCPS light(i think that is what is was)

Any ideas?

ok the temp sensor is on the driver side of the engine. very close to the dipstick. i've had the dipstick touch the wire and short the temp sensor. or the wire must have come lose.
never seen an alternator smoe so i can't help you there.
how did you flush the radiator.?
what plugs did you use?

If your battery goes bad and you do not catch it soon enough then alot of the time it will cause the alternator to overload itself and essentially burn up. The reverse is also true, if the alternator goes bad then it puts a strain on the battery and can cause a cell to go bad. I have had both happen to me and I know it sucks.

My guess is that when the radiator was being flushed some water got into the alternator causing it to go bad, had that happen to. Because the alternator was not up to par after that it caused the battery to go bad. That would be my guess.

As far as the temp sensor you probably just knocked it loose when you were changing plugs. I don't think it is that far away.

I had my altenator rebuilt and I noticed today that it might be stating to go again. My advice to you is yo buy one from autozone or something with a lifetime warranty and every time it craps out (which it will) just go get another one.

Thanks for all your help. I found the ECT and sure enough it was dissconnected. Also, had the alternator tested and it was ok. So i will give the battery a test and see how it is later in the week. Thanks
