Depends on where it was manufactured for, if it's California then there are 3, other states I believe are 2. It can differ car from car for when they go bad but mine lasted till 128k, now I just run straight pipe out the back

Hi, thanks for the reply.
It was manufactured , of course , in KY and bought there and driven to it's first home in Florida.
I am asking because after I drive it for about 3 miles I start to hear a rattle sound sometimes but not continuously. Sounds like from the right side of the car. So I wondered if this car has 3 converters.
A rattle could just be a heat shield or a nut or a world of other things, but that's not a sign that your cats are bad, bad cats will make your car sluggish and if it gets bad as my car, it actually wouldn't even start.
For the 94, I believe there are only two cats the pipes then go into a "resonator" which looks like a extra long muffler in the center of the car. Then is splits into two pipes back to the actual mufflers.
