Hey guys, new member here. I have been reading the forums for months, but after endless causes, I decided to come here. I'm not much of a DIY guy unless it's minor. So when I get the check engine, I take my 1996 corvette to the local chevy dealership. They always take care of me and my Dad in our corvette stuff (he has a 2011 GS). Being able to buy a veto at 18 with a hard earned money was great. But I have been having this huge problem. It takes a few key turns to start the car. Sometimes it will start slightly with a 'putter' then die out until I turn the key again. Thousands of dollars later at the dealership and they still haven't figured it out. If it was up to me, I'd go get a C5, but I personally love my C4 design and don't want a car payment. All the check engine codes relating to the intake rubber hosing was fixed, etc., but the car still takes a few key turns to start up. Granted, it does have a 102k miles, but I service it regularly. I live in AZ so the heat may be a factor. Sometimes in the heat, the engine will just die (I'm trying to invest in a BeCool radiator), but I REALLY need a solution for the starting up problem. My paychecks just can't take it anymore.
You should have said what you are working on, but no matter and welcome. You have a 96 CE. Check fuel pressure see if it over 46 psi when key is turned to run and it holds. Check to be sure fuel pressure regulator is not leaking fuel into vacuum hose. Fuel pressure should be close to 40 psi when it's running. You need to get FSM so you can work on you car. The engine is OBD2 so a scanner is inexpensive. When it stalls is that idling, coming to a stop or on the fly?
