Default 1985 C4 VIN location

I went to the technical control on this morning to have the license plate,
but the guy didn't find the chassis number - there is one at the windshield but he said there should be another one somewhere.
Do you know where is it?
thanks

There's no complete VIN stamped in other locations of the chassis BUT there are derivatives of it in many locations. Is the car 100% stock and original?

Where are you located? I believe I've seen you mention Belgium

Very generally speaking the certification label placard on the drivers door and maybe the VIN on the SPID label would/should suffice. Both the "Certification Label" and the SPID are considered as issued only once to the car. If those are present I'd try that conversation.

It's most frequently mentioned as being stamped on the left frame rail I believe in the vicinity of the battery tray. I've never actually looked because I had no need to.I believe it's mentioned to be on the vertical surface of the rail and not the TOP, remove the left rear wheel-shield and I believe it would be facing forward. For yours I'd expect F5XXXXXX

There are generally derivatives on the engine block and also the transmission case pan rail if an A4. A 4+ I've no idea.

Page 0A-3 in your FSM if it's arrived will show you some possible locations for the VIN derivative on the engine. I'd expect you'll find this image on 0A-3 from this post. 0A-4 possible transmission locations for VIN derivative.
