Okay. I read on alighting forum that the motion to 1156/1157 is not that good. The Phillips got good comments. As I was looking I found Sylvania zevo which is sold at AutoZone. I picked up a set today.
They are NOT plug and play. The socket has to be clearanced for them (like most LEDs). Then I found due to the design of our lights the are clocked 90degs off. I modified one bulb and will complete it and clearance the socket for it to fit. I like this design as the LEDs point at the reflectors (once I finish modding them)
I've heard the same about 1156 and 1157. Curious to see how your's comes out.
So Reading on one of the Lighting Forums, they said the Morimoto 1157/1157 are not worth the $$$

Good luck GC, I do hope they work. We really need the LED to shine back towards the reflector.. I have the tower type like this ones Cliff Harris mentioned..
Like This:
Below is a picture of the ZEVO on the left, the tower on the right. The ZEVO uses the reflector ( Keep in mind I had to mod them 90degs to get the LEDs ( to align with the reflector)
I used the Sylvania ZEVO 7506 1156 equivalent bulbs from oReilly's.
The edge of the socket needs to be modded slightly to clear the corner of the new LED bulbs.
I've posted photos of the bulbs and the car with them installed/illuminated are posted over in WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR C4 TODAY dated 20 July 2016.
Jonathan.....
I have to wonder of the socket on the 90-older vs the 91-newer ( and 90 Z) are clocked differently.. mine were not that bright out the box due to LEDs pointing to the sides of the Back-up light.. They are bright now after correcting them for the 91-later style lenses

So the Morimotos showed up. I installed them today but they are not a direct fit. I had to nib the inside of the socket down like -=JEFF=- did. 5 mins of dermal work per side lol. While the body is the exact same length of a normal 1156 rear bulb the top shank does not allow you to seat the bulb in the socket to complete to push and turn lock sequence like the stock 1156. For $25 not too bad and significantly brighter than stock. Very white vs yellow and brighter than the halogen bulbs which was the upgrade at the time like so ten years ago LOL. I retained the stock refelectors. Overall I am very happy. The SMDs are sealed in a plastic cover vs. exposed and that cover has a center focusing cone in the lens to evenly distribute the light which you clearly can see in the picture as the light is distributed evenly. In my assessment these are a better build quality than the exposed SMD style that are now everywhere. I really like the form factor.
