Constantly......it's a relief in the truck towing a closed trailer and I can't see the azzholes tailgating unless I do a waggle.

Constantly!!! And remember to keep an eye on that rearview mirror when you're slowing down or stopped in traffic or sitting at a STOP sign or red light. When you're stopped in a line of traffic, try to leave enough room in front to allow yourself room to swerve out of the way of that SUV coming up behind you that seems to be going a little too fast and the driver is on a cell phone.

I never move my eyes from the road in front of me unless I am looking at a hot chick or hear a siren behind me. Why would you want to look behind you its already in the past??

I am a professional truck driver, so I check my mirrors every 10-15 seconds in traffic and every 30 seconds on roads with no traffic present. If you train your eyes properly, you can check your mirrors and still be able to see changes in front of you. The trick is to keep track of all vehicles close to you and their relationship to yours in traffic. If you do this, you can keep from having to worry about them as they go thru your blind spots.

well guess what. I had been on this post yesterday and commented that I use my mirrors all the time........I also told someone about creeping a little at stop lights. On the way home from work.......wet roads......... sitting at a light ............ windows down........I hear tires screaching and looked in the mirror and a taxi was trying to stop behind me.......... he was almost stopped when I saw him but I allowed myself room to creep ahead ,.......good thing too..........I would have needed a new rear bumper today..........watch those mirrors!!!! :seeya

All the time, kinda like blinking. Just comes natural.
I never realized how often I do actually check until my husband was laying in the backseat during a road trip and pointed it out.

In town constantly. On the interstate probably half as much. The only exception to this rule is if I'm flirting with some blonde hottie in the car next to me. :D

I'm always scanning side and rearview mirror...probably learned it from my Dad (he taught me to drive when I was 12 in Chi-town many, many moons ago)

For those guys who said they never check their rearview mirror, take a look at Siveck's comments in another discussion - "Torque Saves Lives". You can bet he was glad he checked his "past" while he was stopped. :smash:

How often i check depends on traffic. In heavy traffic i check my mirrors CONSTANTLY!!! In lighter traffic less often...but i'm always on the watch for what those idiots in Charlotte are gonna try next! :rolleyes:

I spend more time looking up at the rear than I do in the side mirrors. In fact you can see so much through the one that I rarely use the others. I tend to look in the back enough that I see if someone sneaks in beside me. I probably don't check my side mirrors enough, but I do check them and physically turn around and look any time I'm going to change lanes.
I know that no matter how sure I am that there isn't a car there, I can't be 100% sure until I look.
How many times have you just instinctively swerved to miss some jerk and then realized that you didn't even look to see if the way was clear? Too many times I'm afraid. I've just been lucky I guess.
