Hey guys went to remove my top the other day & my top wrench was gone .... :mad ...So I called the chevy dealer and what do they tell me, the damn thing is $75 ... :bs .. !!!! So I called Mid America theres is no longer offered >...< DAMN it ! So can some one tell me another route to go ...please help
Someone should ring in with the torx size but until they do, go to ebay and look for one...You can get them pretty cheap and most Corvette catalogs ( Mid America, Corvette Central and etc...) still carry them as either stock or replacement...The price should be around 20.00 for a replacement and 30.00 for original... YOu may find one with one of our forum distriburtors either in the Mall or Restoration store.
You can use a Torx socket (providing the length is adiquate) or a torx screw driver. (not a pleasent thought)
I saw an add in an old Mid Am catelog for one that was a black and decker cordless screwdriver and a torx bit. (not really handy for leaving in your car though.)
No need to go buy a new one for $75!
My 89 top wrench was lost by the previous owner. I purchased a Craftsman Torx screw driver (for the correct size screw head) for less than $10. I is not original......but it works! :yesnod:
Hey,
I have a better queston. If that little wrench costs 25 to 75 dollars, How come the resale value of my C4 is dropping so fast???
At those prices I could slowly part out my car for Oh about 150,000 dollars
I figure my cig lighter would go for upwards of 50 bucks. :yesnod:
I got a new Idea for PBS "corvette roadshow". Scorp and Mojo could travel the country and give you value's on our spare parts :) :)
Of course they would have to wear 3 pc. suit's and have accents.
