Default First C4 Corvette!

Hey Everyone,

Got a C3 already, currently incapacitated due to mulitple issues. So I decided to pickup a C4 in the mean time for some spring/summer/fall fun!

1994 LT1 Black. 6Spd!

126,000 on it right now.

Paid 6500 for it.

It was in an accident. Looks like the front bumper and the hood were replaced and painted. Frame looks fine though.

Dry rot on the rear tires, needs to be replaced. Front tires look great. Fronts are 255 and rears are 285. Is the 285 a typical tire size for this year? I'll have to look that up.

Weather stripping needs to be replaced eventually. Not terrible but its worn.

Looks like someone installed an aftermarket "chip" or "computer". Looks like it was directly hooked up to the throttle body.Connection is severed though.

Engine runs good until a SYS light/CES light come on. Then it fumbles when you get into it. Lots of sudden hesitation. I'll have to look into this as well.

Saw the rear comp spring bushings were cracked and need replacement.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Looks good. Once you get it sorted out, it should be a fun cruiser. Now, we need to get rid of this snow and salt so we can drive

Thanks Ghlkal! I know this snow has to stop, NOW! I think we are on the up and up though. Most of it was melting today, good sign.

Looking through the forum I can see there are tons and tons of posts with vast amounts of info, I'll be reading on here for the next...few years

It looks good in the pics. I used to have a black '80 that I wish I still had. I love my '86 too, though. Welcome to the club.

Thanks JungleCat! I was hoping this car wasn't going to be a case of "it looks good in the pictures, how about in person" lol Luckily this is not one of them. It actually looks just as good in person! Just a few problems lol.

Looks like a nice car!

Stumbling could be an ICM going bad with heat. Everyone will tell you its the opti and you need to replace it with a 900 dollar OEM, resist that line of thought until other things are verified first.

She looks pretty good, although with pollen season coming in it'll be yellow soon enough. Welcome to the Bastard Stepchildrens Club.

Looks great. Look up how to scan codes on your 94. You just use a paper clip, seriously. Put key in ON, don't start it.

I will resist at all costs! Ahaha. I have an OBD1 scanner coming to my house in the next two days. I'll be able to pull the codes it was throwing and see what could be happening.

Congrats. Interior looks great for 126k. The 285/255 tires are the standard tire size. The weatherstripping on my 96 is pretty worn but I haven't had any issues driving it in the rain, which I try to avoid but it happens.

See you still have snow on the ground. I'm south coast MA and thankfully we got mostly rain but they salted the crap out of the roads. Hoping for a good rain soon to wash it away.

I suspect they are one of those enhancers or foolers (makes a fool of the buyer) to make the ECM think there is more throttle than should be. Plus the idea you spent the money makes you think it is faster. You got all kinds of pictures and none of that crap? Perhaps that is what is making stumbling engine problems?

Oh man, you got totally ripped off. The car is worth nothing. As a favor to a forum member, I will come tow it out of your drive way for free saving you the tow bill. Just leave the title in the front seat. .. Truthfully, looks like a great car you brought home. Best of luck, don't forget to wave.

I might have almost bought that Car! Was it in Randolph Mass perchance? I talked to the guy on the phone... I was concerned by the "Chip" removal issue and Check engine light... I never got a chance to look at it....

I'm glad you saved it though... I'm up in NH and got my first C4 truth be told I ended up not with that one because I stumbled on my 95 Arctic white...

Nice. I assume you drove the C3 a bit. You'll love the C4. I have both and can say the C4 is truly a daily driver where the C3 is a parade car. You'll get the C4 sorted out and be pleased with it. Keep us posted.
