Just bought a 96 C4 with 27,000 babied miles. Original tires which I just replaced. The man I bought the car from told me to keep the old tires as people who show would want these. I will never show this car. My questions: Do these tires really have any value? How would someone go about selling these? Thanks,Dan
Some people would like to have the original tires that came with the car if they are serious about showing the car. If you want to sell them list them on the Parts for Sale part of this forum, or put them on Craigslist.
I know I don't but that is my question. I was told that since these tires are not made anymore and the date code is correct that people who show want them. For all I know he could have been kidding me. Dan

Before you went to the extreme of saving you need to confirm the date codes to be original, in time an NCRS type person could certainly be interested. Maybe since this is your first post you respond with sizes and date codes to this thread and mention your location.
Tire code information is here as well as available nearly everywhere that sells tires. If you bought your NEW locally the tire deealer should likely be able to help.
Sold my original Goodyear gatorbacks off my '90 through CL 3 years ago. About 50% tread remained. No age/dryrot on sidewalls but some in the bottom of the tread grooves. Had several people call so there is some interest. Got $50 unmounted. Better that paying 2-4 bucks a tire to discard.
I agree with WZs post. There are owners out there looking for original parts to completely restore the car. Some of them are not driven, but for show. Its not my cup of tea but I respect the effort put into it
Date code shows the 36th and 46th week of 1996. Located in LeClaire,Iowa. Thanks for the responses. Dan
Those are seemingly impossible dates for a '96 Corvette production tire code. Maybe '95? What is the month/year on your tire placard/certification label on the drivers door. What was the actual codes?
This is what I did with mine. 85 original, only had 4000 miles on them. Didn't have storage room for them and didn't want to sell them so I use them as a high top table in my garage and if ever needed can be remounted to my factory rims for show.

You are so correct. Build date of the car is 2/96. I guess I don't know how to read the date code. I will do more research on how to find and read the date code. Thank You, Dan
I believe I have wasted your time. The two front and one rear are 366,466,and066 and one rear is 4500. The 4500 rear has more tread than the other. This means one rear was replaced in 2000. How the other 3 have the dates they do I have no idea. If anyone wants them for free please PM me. Thank You, Dan
You could also check out the Vettes on the River car show. It is in Leclaire.
You might be able to find a person who is into showing Corvettes that would be interested.
I went to this show a couple of times. I don't remember, but I think it was about a $15 entry. When I went I had no illusions of winning, but it is a great place to park and meet people and look at the corvettes. Attendance has been about 500 Corvettes the last few years.
When I bought my 39K mile 88 model last year, the seller told me that the tyres had only 3k miles on them, but the date codes shows them to be 7 years old.
Luckily I have 3 sons who are doing their best to wear them out asap.
When I bought my '85, the owner had Mustang Cobra-R rims on it (with gigantic adapter/spacers). I sold those and found a full set of '86 wheels with tires. Fronts were fairly new Fuzions, rears were some pretty much slick Goodrich's. They were round and held air, so good enough for a bit.
Then while underneath replacing u-joints, snd getting my face REAL close to the tires I saw the tread looked like a shattered windshield. Turns out the date code was from '82...yes the tires were older than the car!
