Good Job, I just paid $9.5k for a very clean 92 with 51,000 miles.

Great job, car looks great! 3500 is pretty damn good as well, just make sure she's safe. Also, check the weatherstripping, the connectors, and the lines and make sure they're all good, that's one of the biggest problems I'm having with my 94. Other than that, congrats!

So found the first wart! Went to start it today after sitting over night and wouldnt start. It did start however the second time I tried. Tried it again 20 minutes later and sure enough the first time I try starting it, it will turn over for about 5-6 seconds but not fire up. But as soon as I stop and try it again it fires up on the first turn. Noticed some exposed wire on one of the wires goign to one of the injectors. I also noticed that I dont really hear the fuel pump priming. Drove it to the Oreillys and replaced the fuel pump relay and seems to start up fine now. But not sure if its starting up fine now because its warmed up or because the relay was the culprit since it fired right up everytime yesterday when it was warm.

Noticed some of the weatherstripping in a few places can use some work.

I've got the same problem with mine. Went around and jiggled a couple different groups of wires and it fixed it for a little bit, but sadly I don't know which ones it was. Since it ran fine I didn't think too much of it, and usually after it's started and ran it turns on right away. If replacing that relay keeps it firing right up, let me know and that's what I'll be doing. I'd replace that exposed wire ASAP, and you really have to listen for the fuel pump, it's pretty quiet, or at least it is on mine. Even if you don't hear it, turn the key to on, let it sit about 4-7 seconds, then try cranking it. It helps with mine

For now I went ahead and covered the exposed wire with electric tape. plan on completely replacing the wire next weekend

So the relay did not fix the problem, got the fuel pressure gauge on it and looks like the pump isnt priming. Noticed that when it does start up and the fuel pressure jumps up to around 30-35 it will hold, but as soon as I shut the car off the pressure drops to 0. So guessing it is probably a faulty pump or fuel pump check valve? I did also notice yesterday that when I really get on it kind of hesitated for a second then ran fine again. I am looking to order the FSM as well. One last thing I noticed when the car first starts up the oil pressure is pretty high ( around 60 at idle and up to 68 while driving) but once it warms up it goes back down to normal. I already bought the oil pressure sensor just waiting to put it in!

Thats normal behavior for the oil pressure. Cold oil will be thicker which will read higher on the gauge. When its warmed up & hotter, the oil thins which reads lower on the gauge. My readings are pretty much identical to yours on my 34k mile engine.

Sounds great. Welcome to the forum. If you are like me you will find the information here better than the FSM. REgarding the double tap to start; can you hold the key in the on position for a couple seconds, let it prime then start or does it not prime at all. You can hear the pump. My Astro is like that, takes 2 or 3 tries if I don't let it prime. It must bleed back overnight or something. RE the oil pressure. SBC engines seldom lose oil pressure due to wear. Its pretty typical to start up at 50 to 60 and then at hot idle drop back to 20psi. Totally normal. Lots of info on the forum. Nothing to worry about. Consider changing trans fluid. You may find it makes a big difference. Do the power steering and brake fluid too. And antifreeze. All fluids need changing and chances are it hasn't been done. Have fun, enjoy the ride. By the way, your spousal story brings to mind a recent ad I saw on Craigslist; "For Sale, Suzuki GS1000. Must sell due to marital misunderstanding. Talked with wife about the bike. Apparently "Due whatever the hell you want" doesn't mean what I thought it did." Glad you survived that phase. PS let her drive it, by herself even. I let my wife take mine and I have no problem at all adding $$$ to the master card if its for the Vette. PSS, she also let me keep my cycle.I guess I'm just a lucky guy.

So I hooked the fuel pressure gauge and the pump does prime. but the second that the pump stops priming the pressure drop immediatly back to 0.

Just tested it with the return line blocked off and it is holding pressure now!! That means it looks like its the pressure regulator right?

Ok now this is interesting. Unplugged the return line and hooked everything back up and now low and behold the pressure holds after the pump primes and seems to run perfect. There was still a bit of a long start but not like before. Pressure holds around 30-35 and noticed after I turn the key off the pressure builds for a second and goes up to about 40 then stops. But after about an hour it looks like it dropped to about half and then 2 hours later it is pretty much no pressure.
