The center hub and outer ring are bonded together with rubber. The rubber cracks, shrinks, or softens from oil saturation and the outer ring can slip around the hub, which is keyed & bolted to the crank. That moves the timing mark off of where it should be... in turn, that makes setting the timing difficult or not very accurate at best.

I dont know how much it may have moved but anyways try unhooking the battery to reset ECM wierd problem any codes?
