My ambient temp reading is stuck on 50. I would think that because of this, the A/C in not working. Had it charged and the dealer said it was good. They said I needed a new HVAC head unit, so I got another one and no change. They said the ambient temp sensor not working did not matter, but I think it does matter. What is the right answer before I waste more money?
If I'm understanding you correctly, the outside temp display is stuck? That sensor is down on the right hand side of the radiator opening and reads the outside air temp and shows it on the A/C display. You might have a short in the wire or it is disconnected. You can see the connector from under the hood down near the lower edge of the radiator cover. It really doesn't have anything to do with the setting of your inside temp. When you adjust the inside temp with the up and down buttons, it will display your desired heat or A/C temperature for a few seconds and then switch the display back to outside temp display.
