Bought an 84 with lots of little issues
Bought my first vet, a 1984 and I'm slowly going through repairing and correcting years of neglect. I have very limited mechanical knowledge so I am relying on friends and you guys to guide be though diagnosis.

The plug that is jumped out is for the A/C, follow the hard metal lines toward the firewall and you should see the other end. The lines may not be there on your car, as the second pic might be the line from the A/C condenser cut off. It also looks like your low coolant level sensor is unplugged.

The plug that is jumped is for the a/c high pressure safety switch. If the pressure in the a/c system goes too high, because of some other failure, this safety switch will shut off the compressor. The a/c may still work just fine with this jumper in place, but the safety function is bypassed. If the pressure goes too high, the compressor may be damaged by the excessive pressure.

The cut off tube makes me suspect that you have a 4+3 manual trans, and this is a replacement radiator out of an automatic car. (WG)

There is no low coolant sensor in the '84.

I would look for some other early C4 in your area, or go to car show with list of questions and good camera to snap pictures of what you are looking to repair, and learn.

Your automatic trans needs cooling for its transmission fluid! You need to get under the car (safely) and find out where the cooling lines on the right side of the trans go! Hopefully, someone didn't just make a loop and send the fluid back to the trans with no cooling.
