Now for early cars '84 - '86 had one style wiper switch but the '87 - '89 was used for a service part after the stock was exhausted. To use the '87 - '89 switch it required a modification of the wiring also.
Your question is somewhat vague as you mention "delay" so maybe you need to better explain your question. Are you talking about internal differences in the motor OR ..............
