I was detailing my 84 recently and I did my weatherstripping with di electric grease. When I got done I decided to leave the top loose! I'm just leaving it loose when I'm not driving. Just takes a minute to hit the road!
I had mine off last weekend and it is nice but I wish it was easier to take off and put on. I have had three "T" roof vehicles ( 91 Firebird, 81 Vette, 01 Camaro) and all of those were much easier to take off.
personally, I wouldn't trust myself to remember to tighten down the roof hardware. with my luck i'd get a free membership into that flying roof club -
BTW, for lubing the weather stripping, I use silicone spray in an aerosol can. I spray an amount into s small plastic container, and use a 1" foam bush and "paint" a coating - let it soak in for a minute or so, and wipe off the excess. I usually do it a couple times a year. seems to work better than straight grease -
I usually leave the roof off the car and if I leave it I just set it on and put the drivers side front bolt in snug and the pass. side rear finger tight. Easier to remove when I leave and keeps the water out if it rains.

I had mine of for the 1st time this weekend and loved it. I'm with you, I had a 72 coupe and it took about 5 seconds to take off per side and no help. wish they had the same setup as my 72. also I read about all kinds of creeking noises and handling problems with it off but I went on a 60 mile ride with no problems except when I hit a bump the top bumped the back window sometimes.
I have found 2 C4 tops on the side of the road. 2 of them! Don't leave it loose or i may find yours. (both were ruined but had good hardware) I drive a lot in my profession.

You should have a latch to hol the top at 3 points. Should not move
It's "just sitting" on the car only while I'm not driving. It's so much quicker to take off. That's the trick. I did have rain today so it's tight again. I always have something to remind me to do a checklist. Not just the car!

yep, I put the holder in the hole but it still seemed to bump window unless I didn't have it in correctly, do you have to push it far into the front 2 holders? I didn't force it in to them
I guess I just don't see the point. it takes less than 5 minutes to remove or install the top. Are T-tops faster, Yes. But it's not like it's an hour long job.

Wish I lived nearby. I'm always looking for drone video opportunities!
