I'm finally at the point of installing my engine in my 85. Looking for pics and recommendations on the best way to install transmission and engine.
The car is at a friends house and looks like we have an adjustable engine hoist, go jacks, and jack stands.
We're thinking install transmission first to torque bar then install engine.
Everything in front of cross member is removed, ie,,, radiator, fan shroud etc.. Hood is removed as well.
What are the pros, cons and tricks to accessing specific bolts etc..
I recently installed a rebuilt engine in my 84. With the hood and radiator out, it was easy to install engine and transmission bolted together. Easier to put together while out of the car, and dropped in like it belonged there. I did have to put the through bolt in the passenger side motor mount, then pick up on the drivers side of the engine to get the c beam bolts in, but I'm not sure if the beam is twisted slightly (didn't need much) or if this is normal. Probably took less than 20 minutes from hanging on the hoist to bolted in. I did use a leveler on the hoist and a floor jack under the trans pan once it was close.
