I'm sure i'm not alone on this one. The headlights suck! Has anyone replaced theirs with HID and if so are they direct fit or does it require modification to the wiring.
I have done the HID conversion. Not especially difficult, but not plug and play either. I have had troubles with my ballasts. The left one failed completely and had to be replaced. The right one is iffy on start-up -- sometimes it starts OK, other times it doesn't.
I suggest going with LEDs instead. Avoids a lot of problems.

And i'm assuming LED headights are plug and play? Anything other than stock should be an imptovement as you get older you'll c what I mean. Night driving out on unlit country roads sucks. Thanks. And like we say in new hampshire. "Live free or die"
They don't suck unless they are old, incandescent fade over time.
Thanks bac22. I'm in hampstead nh. Maybe i'll try swapping out the stock bulbs first
They're cheap enough. What really sucks is driving at night with glasses. But at 68 what can you expect. Live free or die

Sounds like you need to try an HID relay harness, that may be why you are experiencing those issues.

I'm a bit behind you in age, but I agree that driving at night changes with age - that was why I upgraded the lighting on all my vehicles.
I used to LOVE night driving, now I tend to avoid it when possible
I have had a lot of eye problems and surgeries to my eyes and driving at night is hard as the lights are very poor. When you live in an area with lots of deer running at night it is also a problem. Considering going with led for easy replacement. I think they are 1500 lumens low beam and additional 3500 for high beam CREE's. Prices vary on ebay from $ 22.00 and up for each bulb.
