Yeah, some bad luck there. On the up side, it didn't go up in flames. So there's that.
Agreed, could be much worse. Thought the engine went at first, looked like oil. I guess the positive side is the oil from the leak is now cleaned off the block
Hopefully it will be an easy fix and you only lost a few gallons.
I think it will be an easy fix. Looks like a section of rubber line, a short connection between the metal lines. Might be a good time to run a new line from the tank to the fuel filter. Just glad it didn't catch fire, I had my son with me and the leak was right under his seat.
whole tank of gas. Some dipshit walked over with a smoke to see what was wrong, he smelled it and basically ran to the other side of the lot. Once it was on the flatbed, I could see right where it ruptured.
I had my 1988 Corvettes fuel line stop up. I ordered the set of replacement lines and discovered how hard it was going to be to replace the original lines with the body on. According to the FSM you have to drop the exhaust and a lot of other work.
I ended up cutting off a section and replacing where my line had been plugged. I used the section from the fuel filter to the point it goes into the back part of the car. I thought this made more sense than any of my other options. I am saving my return line and maybe someday I will have the car apart enough to be able run the originals again.

I hope you find a solution that works for you.
Thanks. Did you run rubber line or steel to bridge it? I can't tell what the PO hacked in. He had new brake lines added but never removed the old ones. Zip ties and a mess underneath. I just want to get it back on the road, safely. The season is short in Ohio, it could be 80 in Sept or snowing.
Sorry to see that. If you need a hand fixing it let me know, I'd be happy to help. Shouldn't be a terrible job. The fuel line that runs from the tank to the right side frame rail on my 86 is pretty rusty. That'll be a job given I might have to remove the rear bumper and gas tank. Glad you weren't on the road when it happened and glad no one was hurt.
Thanks, they are made by Centra. The PO bought them. I guess they are out of business but made most of the wheels for BMW, Mercedes and VW in the 80's.
Just behind the passenger seat bucket. Rubber line, and it was probably patched in years ago. I'll takes pics when I get home, I'm traveling this week. Bad day to have it happen.

I appreciate it, I need to get in touch and set up some time to get up to Vermillion. I'm out of town this week, will contact you when I get back.

I attempted to replace the rubber section in the engine compartment with new. Problem is there are no replacement parts available. You can find plenty at the online used parts stores.
I suggest you find a vendor for fabing up replacements for these rubber sections.
Shouldn't hurt the pocket too much, but it will hurt.
Maybe get a price for ten units and sell them here in a GP (group purchase).
Easy to do and might save you some money.
I did this with tapered rear wheel bearings years ago and saved some bucks for 20 forum members.
And the mods are ok with it as long as its a limited deal.
Thanks, I'm not sure how the silver would look on the metallic gold. Right now I'm debating on what to do with the paint once a few body issues are corrected. The metallic gold has grown on me and I get lots of positive comments, but thinking a color change might be in order. I think Gunmetal Metallic Grey would look slick on a C4.
