so this weekend I started to replace my weather stripping and it is all pretty straight forward. I order the kit from Wilcox some time ago and finally got around to it. the one surprise I got was when I removed the original stripping I was surprised but the fasteners that were missing from the factory. I guess they were lazy that day but I am missing 4 screws that hold down the channel at the windshield and the b-pillar. strange...
now for the strangest thing. I noticed as I was working that I kept getting these small ants all over he place. car has been sitting for a while. so today I finally decided to get rid of them. I have this poison from DuPont call anxion and it works like magic. it is a gel and the ants eat it up take it back to the home base and poison the whole lot. after about two days no more ants in the house. so I got it out and put some on the car, holly crap... took a quick video and a pic
I went through the same ant thing. Hahaha. I bought some traps that have that gel in it. I placed two behind the rear license plate, one inside the car in the back area, one inside on the front and then one outside the car on the cowl area. I also sprayed around each tire with spectracide ant killer. About a week and a half and ants were all gone. I found that lots of the ants were behind the old crusty weather stripping. I replaced ally stripping with a kit from Corvette America. It too had no clips (my 95 doesn't have bolts that hold the striping in place, instead idiot clips)

got a picture of the box? I goggled anxion and got nothing
On the rear glass halo seal, the Corvette America instructions say to center th top of the seal with the top of the car and the same for the rear near the gas fill. Then to work all everything into the corners. That just didn't work for me. The corners were too tight that way. I found it best to first fit the corners, then put the center's of the top and bottom and then work the excess into the corners. The door seals are really easy. Use an idiot clip tool to remove the old blue clips. Take your time removing any old adhesive. I found it best to use a small 90 degree pick tool and tiny flat head screw driver. I had watched all the YouTube videos prior to doing each seal, and I tell you, they make it super easy. One guy used a typical flexible key chain to push the rear targa seal into place. I, knowing better if course..., thought a body filler spreader would be better. While it worked, I tries the key chain and it was so super easy. It's one of those flexible ones the dealership gives you when you buy a car. Two other tips: Dry fit everything first and the way to not make a mess with the adhesive, I used 3M black, is after to laid your bead of adhesive, pull the tip straight back in a quick crisp motion. Have a rag handy, but I made no mess like that.
This what I found for ants, in car and house. HomeDepot for less then $3.50, works great.
Just put drop down on some paper, and watch the ants go for it, and then take it back to the nest, ant's gone.
somebody should sticky a thread with tips on weatherstripping replacement. I'm going to tackle mine soon. Definitely looking for any pointers lol. Everything from the best total kit to go with to specific watch items when installing
Tip, if you are doing the door seals. It's easy replacement, and the only thing I found was when you drill out the rivets on the seal. I used a drill pit with rubber hose over the drill bit, and had just the tip showing, this way when you drill out the rivet, you don't damage the inside of the door, by drilling to deep.
Make sure everything is clean, to lay the new seals, I used 3M products for glue removal and for placement of new sealant.
