Remove the 2 screws by the defroster vent. Remove the 3 screws under the lip of the dash on the driver's side (there are none on the passenger side). Lower the tilt wheel all the way and sit in the passenger seat. The dash is held on at the base of the windshield by a few (3?) spring clips. Grasp the dash firmly and pull toward you.
This will work on the earlier flat dash pad only,
