I bought new emblems to replace the horrid gold ones for my 95. The studs on the old ones are threaded with each a speed-nut attached. The studs on the new ones are not threaded. They are plastic and have foam adhesive pads on the underside.
Do I try and jam the speed nut on there or since the new emblems are plastic are nuts not even necessary? I mean I could go nuts and run a die on the studs, but I'm thinking it's overkill.
The 'original' emblems I don't think are original at all. They are metal and gold in color. They are definitely threaded. It makes sense that speed-nut will thread on. Thanks
as said above speed nuts cut threads as you wind it on. while the emblem is off start and cut threads on the studs. so when you install its makes your job easier
My 96 polo green roadster also has the gold emblems which I did not really like when I bought the car 14 years ago but I now kind of like the way they look, in the things I received with the car are two original GM hood and fuel door emblems still in the GM boxes, like yours they have adhesive backs and no threads on the pegs, any idea if those gold emblems came from the factory??
I heard there was some sort of gold package, but I'm unsure if it was a dealer package or something like that. My car had gold corvette letters on the back. It also still has gold door handles. I'm going to plasti dip them until I buy new handles.

Yeah some got a Ecklers catalog and ordered one of everything

My 96 never had gold door handles or gold letters on the back, my letters are polo green, I only had the gold hood and gas door emblems.
The gold emblems are aftermarket and usually added by the owner at some point. Usually these paired well with polo green cars and dark red metallic. Nobody makes the screw back emblems anymore they are all plastic pins. Simply go to ace and get the larger aluminum chase nuts that cut a thread into these plastic posts. Don't over tighten the emblems or you can snap the posts. GC
I took the front emblem off today. A much pleasant surprise that it fell off when I took the second nut off and left no glue behind. Total opposite the rear emblem.
