New Emblems before/after
I'm pretty excited that I got new emblems on my 86 coupe. I got them from my new Corvette buddy, photoguy here on the forums. Thanks Mark for the parts!

Sort of funny story about it all. I bought a torque wrench specifically for getting the front emblem off. Had no idea what I was doing, bought a small set including wrench and bits. Well... I needed deep set bits to reach into the hood and undo the screws.

Earlier this week I was tinkering around in the engine bay, as one does, and I noticed this 10mm deep set bit just sitting below the windshield next to the passenger windshield wiper.
It was old & dirty looking so who knows how long it was in there.... but jeez, probably made a lot of noise up until now!
Of course, it was exactly the size I needed for the speed nuts holding on the emblem. I'd inspected the holes with my fingers and felt this really strong, glue-like substance on the posts. I didn't get why it was there until I removed the screws - they didn't fall into the cavernous insides of the hood because of the sticky residue. Awesome!
Finally, I was home alone as I took on this project and... what do you know... I need something to apply pressure to the outside half of the emblem while I put on the screws from the inside.
Hmm! Well, improvisation was my friend. Got the job done, but probably looked funny to my neighbors.
Anyway, doesn't it make the car look waaaayyy less old & unloved? I'm happy with the results.
(now just to wash it....)
I used a six foot section of 3" PVC propped against the rear hatch window with a concrete block backstop when I did the rear weatherstrip. Very similar Macguyver move.
