Default Headlight motor reassembly

Did a dumb thing and took apart the headlight assembly to get to the headlight motor. Took pains to make sure I could reassemble the motor back to the bracket. Ordered the entire motor and when I got the new motor in I couldn't put the motor back onto the bracket. Looked all over for a schematic of that assembly and couldn't find anything on it. Anyone know where I can get a diagram of the assembly?

Use the other side as a reference, just mirror everything.

ron59, what year 'vette? I'm presuming it's not a '59. No clue in your Personal Profile, either.

You'll really learn to appreciate a FSM (Factory Shop Manual).

You did not say what year your car is, but on my 89 it was not too hard to pull the whole assembly out in one piece. Maybe try that ?
This might have some info as well.

It's a 91. Yeah I was going to see if I could get that page from my friend at the local dealership. Have an owners manual but it doesn't show much. I'll check if I can buy an FSM. Doing a restoration and it would probably be more informative than my repair manual.
Thanks

It's a 91. I pulled off the whole assembly but I had pretty much had taken it all apart. More so than I could remember how to put it back together again.

If you are doing a full or even partial resto a FSM will be well worth the investment. You might be able to find one cheap on Ebay. Good luck.

I have the FSM. Anyone know where to find the headlamp assembly diagram in it? I found a schematic called "Headlight Doors" but nothing at all describing the Rube Goldberg mechanism itself.

All it says is to "check mechanical connections for binding, breakage, etc." Well, no schit Sherlock. What a helpful book. Especially if you need to swat a fly.

There are three troubleshooting charts. Basically, you're on your own to figure out what it should look like.

Studying the layout of the passenger side is no help. Some kind of subtle bend somewhere is causing the driver's side to bind.

I've had it apart, replaced ridiculously expensive bushings, measured, compared to others, etc. It still tries to tear the motor off it's mount fighting itself. Spent two frustrating hours on it yesterday.

Mine are now manual. Problem solved.
