My suggestion: Fix your motor. It's probably a very simple fix. There's a good chance you have dirty limit switch contacts at the motor armature. If so, there are no new parts required.
It may also be a bad relay. Under a plastic cover, in front of the LF wheel, trade the places of the two right relays (closest to the radiator). Does your problem move to the other headlight motor? If not, the problem is in the motor.
To change to the later style two wire motors is an EXTREMELY major project! That You Tube video is for the later '88-'96 only. The guy says his instructions are for all C4's, but he is WRONG!! They are very different!
Here's a link to repairing the '84-'87 headlight motors. You don't have bad gears, but this procedure by Cliff Harris is a good instruction for disassembling the motors. You probably only need to clean the limit switches. Lubricate the motor bearings with a light weight white grease, like Lubriplate or CRC StaLube, so the armature will shift positions when it hits its stops.
There's no practical way to mix the HL motor control. Even if you had a pair of the later it gets somewhat complicated I believe. If you had a "donor" parked along side with the later it could be more easily accomplished to do the complete package but in no way simple!
