The '85 has a "Burnofff Module" that does the same functions as the later 2-relay system.
The error code 33 is a MAF signal problem. Could be a bad connection (like a corroded connector pin) or broken wire between the MAF and the ECM. Try disconnecting the MAF and see how it runs.
