Okay replaced the starter this summer and heat wrapped, took it out running around lot of start and stop, tried to start it and nothing, cooled down and perfect after that , replaced the battery, and alternator, is there a gremlin i missed?
The problem your having is probably from heat sink...I have tried at least 3 different starters on my 383 powered 89 C4 and had the same problem with them all..A friend of mine who is running a Pro Mod Camaro suggested getting the Summit racing starter below that will handle up to a (18 to 1) compression engine , this is what he's running on his 2000 hp Camaro.. This is the best starter I have ever purchased ,and it cranks my 383 stroker engine over like its nothing... It also doesn't slow down because of heat sink problems. This starter can also be clocked so it's not near the headers...Get this starter and I promise you it will crank your engine no matter how hot it gets. (Plus now it's on sale) ... This starter is made in the USA by Powermaster for Summit racing....WW
MSD are good starters, but at least $100.00 more then the Summit starter.. There close to the price of a Tilton starter which is one of the best starters made....WW

Hi does the starter solenoid work? you should hear a click.
Check you have 12 volts to starter and check the solenoid wire, should have 12 volts when you turn the ignition switch to start.
Check your ignition switch at base of steering column, if the two bolts are not tight it can slip and wont send power to starter solenoid.
Remember there is a starter interrupt relay that is controlled by the theft deterrent as well.
I have not had a problem with the original starter with headers, I did go to a fairly cheap gear reduction small starter $80 has been trouble free for many years.
OP could have a multitude of issues and I think mentioning 'junk starter' or 'buy this one' could be a disservice. Without knowing exactly what the OP's done it's difficult to say.
If he's bought an off the shelf 10MT it could certainly be 'junk' - he could also have bought a very inexpensive lower CCA battery than needed and when combined with poor cables and heat it 'ain't gonna start' when HOT - wrapped could actually create issues. He may have also bought a lesser compact starter and they ain't squat either.
OP could maybe mention exactly what he's actually done regarding starter type, battery and starter. The alternator? Why?
ill be working on the issues ...gonna look at the steering colum ignition switch, it died a couple of weeks ago and it was the alternator ..so checked the battery ,,so far so good
